ERX MN Regional Snocross – Dec. 17-18, 2011
December 17th and 18th brought the team to ERX Motor Park in Elk River, MN for round 2 of the ISOC Minnesota Regional Series. The ERX crew did a good job of putting together a long technical track while fighting the warm temps in the Minneapolis area. Team Bauerly riders participating this weekend included Paul, John, and Chase in the Pro classes, Ross and Scott in the Pro Plus classes, and Marcus Lang in Junior.
Up first was the Pro 18-29 class where Paul and John ran Saturday and did so quite consistently. Paul went through qualifying with 2 – 2nds and John with 2 – 4ths. In the finals they battled each other lap after lap with John crossing the finish line in 2nd and Paul in 3rd. Paul also ran in the Pro Open class Saturday where he placed 1st and 4th in the 2 rounds and after a great start in the final was able to hold on for a big overall win. The Pro Stock class in the afternoon featured some tough going as the boys ran mid-pack through qualifying and also in the finals with John finishing the day in 5th, Paul in 7th, and Chase who was running in 4th was DQ’d after his clutch side body panel fell off. In Pro Plus 30 action, Ross and Scott had some good battles in qualifying with “Scott hole shot Haala” getting the start in both heats, but Ross motored around him to go 1-1 in qualifying. In the final, Scott again came rocketing off the line, but Ross came away with the win, and Scott close behind in 3rd. Marcus ran hard in the JR Novice (10-13) class with a 4/3 qualifying run and a 10th in the final. In the Transition 8-12 class Marcus was consistent with a 6/5 qualifying effort and a solid 5th place in the finals.
Sunday brought out John and Chase for the Pro 18-29 class where both rode some of their best races and finished out the two rounds of qualifying with John going 1/1 and Chase 4/4. This put them both in the front row with John being the #1 qualifier. As the flag dropped, John got an excellent hole shot and led from green to checkers bringing home his first ISOC win. Chase got off the line mid-pack and pushed hard passing 3 riders and earned a hard fought 4th place overall. Then Marcus was up in his 2 classes, Transition 8-12 and Junior 10-13 where he stepped up his game and had some of his best races to date finishing 4/4 in qualifying and 4th in the final in one, and 7/7 in qualifying with a 6th place overall finish in the other.
In the Afternoon session, Scott in Pro Plus 30 and John in Pro Stock were the only 2 riders competing for the team. Scott was still able to keep his name as “Hole shot Haala”, getting every start and holding the lead from green to checkers in both heats and his final giving him the top spot on the box with a 1st place finish. John started off the afternoon session right where he left off from the morning, running solid and finishing the first round with a 2nd. In round 2 he started out up front but began having some shock issues in his rear suspension and finished with a 5th. For the finals, the team rushed to get his machine dialed in but with the short timeframe between the heat race and final, they were unsuccessful so John ran the race mid-pack and worked his way up 2 spots to finish with a solid 4th overall.
It was a great weekend of racing overall for the team. Remember to keep checking out our website at http://www.bauerlyracing.com or like us on Facebook for all the latest news, information, and pictures.
