TEAM Racing Update: Bauerly Racing at the Blackjack National Snocross – Dec. 9-11, 2011

TEAM Racing Update: Bauerly Racing at the Blackjack National Snocross – Dec. 9-11, 2011

December 13, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Blackjack Mountain Ski Area in Bessemer, MI played host to round 2 of the Amsoil Championship Snocross Series.  There isn’t a better place than the U.P. of Michigan to host an early season snowmobile race with its lake effect natural snow, modest temps, and ample snowmaking capabilities.  The natural terrain and elevation changes that Blackjack was able to provide proved perfect for a long technical course that challenged even the most talented rider in the sport.  One massive downhill section held 13 whoops alone, much like the uphills.

Saturday brought the Pro-Lites class out first in which Chase Rosemeyer (#675) and John Stenberg (#259) both ran for the team.  Round 1 started off with Chase running mid-pack to a 4th place finish and John running hard to a 4th place as well.  The pair went back to the pits to make some needed changes due to the technical downhill and icy uphill.  Round 2 went much better for Chase as he ran hard to a 2nd place finish and John again matched that performance with a 2nd place.  These finishes put both on the front row of the final.  In the Pro-Lites final, the 2 found themselves mid-pack after a tight start where John slotted into 4th place early on and Chase into 7th.  After some intense laps and many close calls with the rough and demanding course, Chase pressed on to an 8th place overall finish and John rode consistently hard crossing the line in 4th place.

Paul Bauerly (#24) ran in the Pro Open class Saturday afternoon where he started off in round 1 with a mediocre start, but rode smoothly to a 6th place finish.  Round 2 showed more of Pauls true potential as he fought up front and came out 3rd.  The two finishes put Paul directly into the finals where he would charge hard mid-pack for the entire duration and eventually cross the line in 10th overall.

Sunday brought the boys back to the track early for Pro Plus 30 class qualifying where Ross Bauerly (#821) started off with some solid finishes.  Ross pulled in a 3/2 in his 2 rounds of qualifying and easily made the final.  In the final after a decent start, Ross got tangled in corner 2 leading into the tricky uphill and bent some steering components in the process.  That damage would lead to a crash on the tough downhill a few laps in.  After remounting and realizing the damage, Ross was able to counter the issue and ride back up through the pack to an impressive 5th place overall finish.  Next up in Pro-Lites class qualifying, Chase managed a 6/7 set of finishes which unfortunately fell short of the final.  John on the other hand ran hard to a 2/3 set of finishes.  Those finishes put him on the front row of the final once again where he would pull off a decent start and battle mid-pack.  The tricky downhill and changing snow conditions bit John twice and he would eventually cross the line in 14th place.

In Pro Open Paul ran into some rough track conditions in his heats, but showed he could handle them and nabbed a 6/3 set of finishes in his 2 rounds.  Landing in the LCQ, Paul was determined to make the transfer to the main.  He ran a stellar pace where he fought with the leader lap after lap and placed 2nd.  From the back row of the final, he was able to charge up into 7th place where he rode for 12 of the 14 laps until a mishap on the treacherous downhill set him back a bit.  After remounting and charging hard to the finish, Paul was able to pull out a well deserved 9th place overall.
